Johannes Brodinus

Born June 18, 1619 in Bro, died Nov. 8 1680 in Västerås.
Parents: Vicar of Bro, later in Färentuna, Peter Nicolai Brodinus and Sara Jonsdottir.
Attended school from 1626 in Stockholm and Strängnäs; student in Uppsala on November 7 1636;

Royal grantee; disp. December 12 1646 (PUBLIC DEFENCE OF THESIS politica de regno; pres. I. Bringius); Master May 6, 1647; ordained priest the same year; studied with the support of King’s scholarship at several universities in Germany, France and Holland 1647-51. Chaplain June 26, 1652; accompanied Karl Gustav on his Polish campaign of 1656; superintendent of Gotland January 31 1657; received permission to exchange pastorate in Visby, which was associated with the superintendent position, for the vicar’s post in Larbro May 11, 1665; Bishop of Västerås November 8 1677. Theology Doctor in Uppsala at Karl XI's coronation on October 1 1675.

1) 16 November In 1658 with Elizabeth Emporagrius, d 1662, daughter of the bishop Erik Emporagrius.
2) January 18 1663 with Gertrude Leijel, born 1645, died July 23, 1674, daughter of the merchant in Stockholm, ironmaster Jacob Leijel; 3) 1676 to Anna Schultin, born October 21 1655, d March 14, 1730, daughter of the Dean of Hedemora Olaus Schult and remarried with Archbishop Hakvin Spiegel.
