The Swedish Leijel family descend from Scotland, where the name was spelled Lyel or Lyell, and should be carefully distinguished from an ancient lineage Lyle or Le Isle, who had a completely different coat-of-arms and was renowned already in 1164, by William Le Isle.

He inherited sizable Land and works estates from his mother, he sold them and moved to England, then he must pay "tionde penningen" of all his Swedish assets; was declared in England for universal heir of his two rich uncles Henric and Baltzar, who were directors of the English East India Company and died childless, and became naturalized in England, where he died without sons and concluded thus his branch of the noble dynasty Leijel, No. 1531.

Works proprietor at Hammarby ironworks in Örebro County, Bröstorp and Norrby;
Enobled in 1717 28/5 (introduced 1719 No. 1533); † unmarried 1729 22/3 in Stockholm and closed himself his nobility family and is buried in the Storkyrkan.
He invented several good wrought iron and useful varieties of iron plates; gave additionally his funds to, among other things, Hellefors silver works, for which he became raised to nobility; founded additionally a scholarship at Upsala College.
